The Fallen by JSfantasy The Fallen by JSfantasy
Part 1.
The fallen angel, beyond redemption, having betrayed his kin in their slaughter. Evil overtakes him, his wings through time to become the colour of night, his eyes the red of hell, his heart lost to oblivion...

Part 2: [link]

you can find the original sketch and reference photos here: [link]

EDIT: after critique, I have added a broken window, edited some anatomical issues and added bits here and there. Hope you like! =)

First of all you composition cannot be faulted, impactful and striking - with a dynamic potential.

Now to the improvements you could make and really picky things.

-I think the church interior could become much more apparent because initially I thought the structure was an abstract, gothic sci-fi interior. I believe the adding remnants of a stain-glass window would be interesting.

-Although exquisitely detailed in places, the focus of the image should be ‘The Fallen Angel’ but my eyes drift to his mid-drift as the contrasting shiny objects are more interesting than his skin. Make him far more detailed than his fallen brethren.

-The feet spacing is slightly off balance, I suggest you replicate the reference photograph you have as that pose is possible.

-Possibly centre the angel?

-Possible allude to the sky? Possibly add a moon?

-The lower left wing, I think would be shorter than if he is standing at that angle.

-Blood in his hand would probably not fall directly to the ground if the substance follows the direction of the wind.

-Possibly add more feathers that float around, the existing ones work really well.

-The dead angel on the left, his leg is un-proportional - maybe his leg is too long, too straight? The length of his thigh (hip to knee) is a bit too long.

Besides these picky asides I think this artwork is excellent, hope this is of some help.

All the best,

LJF

You know, the angel with the sword reminds me of Jonathan from "The Mortal Instruments" series. It seems in his nature to slaughter others of his kind.

Anyway, this is a wonderful piece. It shows even the greatest of good is capable of evil at times
